🎭 Come with me to see Fun Home at the Royal Exchange Theatre in Manchester. Based on Alison Bechdel's graphic memoir, this five-time Tony Award-winning musical explores family, identity and memory through the story of Alison and her relationship with her father. Funny, moving and beautifully honest, the Royal Exchange Theatre production combines outstanding performances, an incredible score by Jeanine Tesori and storytelling that had audiences laughing one moment and completely silent the next. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I gave Fun Home five stars. Come along with us for Weekly Vlog #456, where we share what we got up to during the week of 1st–7th June 2026. We spent the start of the week on holiday at Ribby Hall Village, which will be featured in our upcoming holiday vlogs, so this week's vlog begins on Saturday with a busy weekend full of family events, theatre trips and festivals. 🎨 HOME Manchester Family Creator Day On Saturday morning, we headed to HOME Manchester for their Family Creator Day. After catching the 255 bus into Manchester, the children were welcomed with balloons and stickers before spending the morning in Creativity Corner enjoying arts, crafts, colouring, dressing up and imaginative play. Leo created a jellyfish, fish and starfish while Alice made an octopus and enjoyed exploring the toys and dressing-up area. We also enjoyed lunch at HOME Bar & Kitchen before heading off to our next adventure. 🎈 Magic Gareth's Balloonatic at Z-arts After leaving HOME, we caught the bus to Z-arts Manchester to see Magic Gareth's Balloonatic. Before the show, Alice and Leo spent time playing on the giant red bus in the foyer before heading into the auditorium. The show was packed with magic, balloons, audience participation and lots of laughs, making it a brilliant family afternoon. 👉 Read my Sarah Monaghan review: https://www.sarahmonaghan.com/post/review-magic-gareth-s-balloonatic-at-z-arts-manchester 👉 Read my full All About Theatre review: https://www.allabouttheatreuk.com/post/review-magic-gareth-s-balloonatic-at-z-arts-manchester ♿ Z-arts Access Day & Adventures in Wonderland After Balloonatic, we stayed at Z-arts for their Access Day. The children were determined to visit Adventures in Wonderland first and once they were inside, they loved it so much that I could barely persuade them to leave and try anything else! 🎭 Malory Towers at HOME Manchester Later that evening, Alice and I returned to HOME Manchester for a special mother-and-daughter theatre trip to see Malory Towers. After a full day of family activities, it was lovely spending some one-to-one time together and we both thoroughly enjoyed the show. 👉 Read my Sarah Monaghan review: https://www.sarahmonaghan.com/post/review-malory-towers-at-home-manchester 👉 Read my full All About Theatre review: https://www.allabouttheatreuk.com/post/review-malory-towers-at-home-manchester 🎪 We Invented The Weekend Festival at MediaCity On Sunday, Leo and I enjoyed a special mummy-and-son day out at We Invented The Weekend Festival in MediaCity. Come With Us To HOME Manchester For A Fun Filled Family Day #manchesterfamily #familydaysout
We recently spent the day at HOME Manchester and it was a great opportunity to learn more about the venue's wider family programme. If you've followed me for a while, you'll know we already visit HOME regularly for family theatre productions and the Little HOME festival, but this visit gave us the chance to spend more time exploring some of the other family-friendly activities available. The children loved spending time in Creativity Corner, which has become one of their favourite parts of visiting HOME. Alice enjoyed the dressing-up costumes, puppets and imaginative play, while Leo got stuck into the crafts and proudly made a jellyfish to take home. We also tried HOME Bar & Kitchen for the first time and the pizza and chips were a huge hit with all of us. And our day at HOME didn't end there either, as Alice and I returned later that evening to watch Malory Towers. It was the perfect way to round off the day and a lovely reminder that HOME offers so much for families. We've also attended Little HOME for the last two years and already have several events booked for this summer. Little HOME, HOME's free annual family festival, returns on 1st and 2nd August with a packed programme of family activities, performances, workshops and screenings. Why HOME is great for families: 🎭 Regular family theatre productions 🎬 Family and relaxed cinema screenings 🎨 Creativity Corner with crafts, books, dressing-up and imaginative play 🖼️ Free gallery exhibitions 🍕 HOME Bar & Kitchen 🚋 Easy to reach by bus, tram and train 🎪 Little HOME – HOME's free annual family festival If you're looking for family-friendly things to do in Manchester, HOME is definitely worth checking out. Come With Us To See Malory Towers at HOME Manchester | Family Theatre Review #Shorts
Come with us to see Malory Towers at HOME Manchester 💙 Neither me nor my 8-year-old daughter had read the books before, so we went in not really knowing what to expect, but the show completely won us both over. Full of friendship drama, live music, playful puppetry and boarding school chaos, this warm and uplifting family theatre show is recommended for ages 8+. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Malory Towers is at HOME Manchester until 13th June before continuing its UK tour. #MaloryTowers #HOMEManchester #FamilyTheatre #TheatreReview #UKTheatre #Shorts

Weekly Vlog #455 | Heatwave, Waitress The Musical & Half Term Family Fun
Come along with us for Weekly Vlog #455, where we share what we got up to during the week of 25th – 31st May in this real-life UK family vlog 💜 This week was half term and also the hottest week of the year so far ☀️ which meant lots of garden play, paddling pools, ice lollies and trying to stay cool. We also had a lovely theatre trip to see Waitress The Musical at Palace Theatre Manchester. 🎭 Waitress The Musical – Palace Theatre Manchester On Wednesday, I headed into Manchester to see Waitress The Musical at Palace Theatre Manchester. It’s such a lovely musical with some fantastic songs, emotional moments and lots of humour throughout. I really enjoyed revisiting the show again and hearing all the music live on stage. 👉 You can read more about my visit and shorter review on my blog Sarah Monaghan https://www.sarahmonaghan.com/post/waitress-uk-tour-at-the-palace-theatre-manchester 👉 And you can read my full review on All About Theatre https://www.allabouttheatreuk.com/post/review-waitress-uk-tour-the-palace-theatre-manchester ☀️ Heatwave & Pirate Ship Paddling Pool Fun On Thursday, the weather was incredibly hot, so Lawrence got the pirate ship paddling pool out for the kids in the garden. Alice absolutely loved pretending to be a pirate and spent ages playing pirates with Daddy in the water 🏴☠️ Poor Leo found the heat a bit too much though, so he mostly stayed inside next to the fan playing on his tablet where it was cooler. Later on, we made some homemade ice lollies together and the kids were very excited eating them once they had frozen. 🏰 Park Trip & Bouncy Castle Fun On Friday, Lawrence took the kids to the park while I stayed home. When they got back, he set up the bouncy castle in the garden which the children were so excited about. They spent ages bouncing around and enjoying the sunshine while making the most of half term. 💦 Water Fights, Slides & Paddling Pools On Saturday, Leo asked if we could get his smaller paddling pool out as well, so Lawrence got it set up in the garden. The children then decided they wanted to use the slide with the pool so they could slide into the water, which they thought was hilarious. Lawrence also set up the water cannon from the pirate ship pool and the kids spent ages running around spraying each other with water and laughing. While the children were busy playing outside, I finally opened my new air fryer which I bought a couple of weeks ago but hadn’t had chance to set up yet. 🧹 Sunday Reset & Editing Day On Sunday, I spent the day hoovering my craft room and editing this weekly vlog. After such a busy and warm week, it was nice having a quieter day at home to get organised again before the new week started. 🔗 Read More About Our Week If you’d like to read more about our week in more detail, you can read our Family Weekly Update blog post over on my blog Sarah Monaghan here: 👉 https://www.sarahmonaghan.com/post/family-weekly-update-25th-–-31st-may-waitress-the-musical-heatwave-week-half-term-fun If you enjoy weekly vlogs, UK family life, theatre trips, real-life family routines, don’t forget to like, subscribe and leave a comment 💬 🎶 Music from Epidemic Sound. Weekly Vlog #454 | Bluey’s Big Play, Trafford Centre Shopping & Sports Day
Come along with us for Weekly Vlog #454, where we share what we got up to during the week of 18th – 24th May in this real-life UK family vlog 💜 This week included Alice’s sports day, Trafford Centre shopping, holiday clothes shopping, a little haul and a family theatre trip to see Bluey’s Big Play at The Lowry. 🏃 Alice’s Sports Day On Tuesday, I went to Alice’s sports day with my parents. Unfortunately, just as Alice started her running race, there was a huge downpour of rain 🌧️ so the school decided to finish the event a little early. Afterwards, we took Alice home and spent the rest of the day relaxing together. 🛍️ Trafford Centre Shopping & Holiday Clothes Haul On Friday, Lawrence and I headed to the Trafford Centre for a little shopping trip while the kids were at school. We had a look around the Haribo shop and Primark, where we picked up some clothes for the kids ready for our holiday. Afterwards, we walked across to ASDA, which had 20% off clothing, and managed to find a few more bits as well. Once I got home, I shared a little haul showing everything we bought. 🐶 Bluey’s Big Play at The Lowry On Saturday, I took the kids to see Bluey’s Big Play at The Lowry with gifted tickets. Lawrence was working, so my brother came along with us instead, which was really nice. The show was so much fun and the kids absolutely loved seeing Bluey, Bingo, Bandit and Chilli live on stage. After the show, we popped into the Cadbury shop where the kids picked up some mini eggs and I bought some strawberry and orange creams 🍫 👉 You can read more about our visit and my shorter review on my blog Sarah Monaghan https://www.sarahmonaghan.com/post/bluey-s-big-play-at-the-lowry-a-fun-filled-family-theatre-trip-with-the-kids 👉 And you can find my full review on All About Theatre https://www.allabouttheatreuk.com/post/review-bluey-s-big-play-at-the-lowry-23-05-2026 🔗 Read More About Our Week If you’d like to read more about our week in more detail, you can read our Family Weekly Update blog post over on my blog Sarah Monaghan here: 👉https://www.sarahmonaghan.com/post/family-weekly-update-18th-24th-may-bluey-s-big-play-trafford-centre-shopping-alice-s-sports If you enjoy weekly vlogs, UK family life, theatre trips, shopping vlogs and real-life family routines, don’t forget to like, subscribe and leave a comment 💬 🎶 Music from Epidemic Sound. Come with us to see Bluey’s Big Play at The Lowry! #bluey
💙This live stage adaptation of the hugely popular children’s TV series follows Bluey and Bingo as they secretly hide Bandit’s phone in an attempt to get him away from his screen and joining in with their games instead. What follows is a funny, chaotic and heartwarming adventure packed with music, dancing, imagination and lots of familiar Bluey moments that younger fans absolutely loved. The puppetry throughout the show is genuinely brilliant and it really does feel like stepping directly into an episode of Bluey. Alice loved the grannies racing around in their little car while Leo was so excited when Chattermax appeared on stage. The finale was also so much fun, with giant inflatable balls and bubbles flying around the theatre while children cheered and danced along. Overall, this is such a joyful family theatre experience and a brilliant introduction to live theatre for younger audiences. We gave Bluey’s Big Play 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 💙 You can catch it at The Lowry until 31st May @Lowry #bluey #BlueysBigPlay #TheLowry #familytheatre #mancheste
